TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 24) – Central Oklahoma’s Zuela Adom was named a second-team pick on the 2009 Daktronics All-South Central Region Volleyball Team, it was announced Tuesday.
The junior outside hitter from Euless, Texas was one of just 14 players honored on the first- and second-team units in voting of the region’s sports information directors. The South Central Region is made up of teams from the Lone Star Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Heartland Conference.
Adom, who returned to the court this after a three-year layoff, was earlier named a first-team All-LSC selection after hitting a solid .235 with 361 kills (2.98/set) this season while adding 76 blocks, 196 digs and 19 service aces.
She had 10-plus kills in 18 matches with three of 20-plus and averaged 24.3 kills during one three-match stretch to spark a late-season surge that earned UCO a fifth-place finish in the league.
The Bronchos lost just one senior off this year’s 16-16 team.
