DENTON, Texas (Oct. 24) -- Zuela Adom collected a career-high 27 kills and Central Oklahoma ended a frustrating five-match losing streak with a four-set win over Lone Star Conference rival Texas Woman's here Saturday afternoon.

The Bronchos pulled out a tough 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23 triumph, rallying from a 20-13 deficit in the fourth set to end the match.  UCO improved to 12-15 overall and 4-6 in the league with the much-needed victory, while the Pioneers dropped to 14-14 and 4-5.

"We got a win we really had to have and I'm proud of the way we hung in there today," UCO coach Jeff Boyland said.  "We got down in the fourth set and could have laid down, but we did a great job of fighting back to end the match."

The Bronchos, who had lost two consecutive five-set heartbreakers, were paced by Adom's dominating performance.  The junior outside hitter hit a solid .283 with 27 kills, 10 errors and 60 attacks while adding 11 digs and a blocked shot.

UCO also got 12 kills, 14 digs and two service aces from Kristen Wilson, seven kills, nine digs and three blocks from Morgan Roy, six kills, 49 assists, 10 digs and three blocks from Meaghan Wedberg, four kills and five blocks from Courtney Whitlow and 25 digs from Ginger Gowen.

The Bronchos led 13-4 in the first set before TWU rallied to tie it at 19 and the teams were deadlocked again at 20, 21 and 23 before back-to-back attack errors gave UCO the win.

It was tied 12-12 in the second set when the Bronchos took control with consecutive kills by Roy and Wilson, with the Pioneers leading all the way in the third set.

TWU then appeared on its way to tying the match after jumping to a huge 20-13 advantage in the fourth set before UCO battled back with a 10-2 run, taking the lead at 23-22 on a Wilson kill.  An TWU error made it 24-22 before the Pioneers got a point, but Wilson ended the suspend with a kill down the line.

UCO returns home to begin a regular season-ending four-match homestand Tuesday, hosting East Central at 7 p.m.
