Jimenez, Knight Lead Bronchos

DUNCAN, Okla. (Oct. 12) – Maria Jimenez and Cassy Knight both shot in the 70s to pace Central Oklahoma on the first day of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate here Monday.
Jimenez shot a 76 and Knight a 77 at the par-72 Territory Golf and Country Club as the Bronchos finished with a 316 total that has them fifth in the team race. UCO also got an 81 from Raelynn Farthing, an 82 from Emily Leahey and an 84 from Erica Bensch.
St. Edward’s leads the 13-team tournament at 304 heading into Tuesday’s final round, followed by Northeastern State (311), Angelo State (314), Newman (315) and the Bronchos.
“We got off to a very sluggish start, but then we came back and played well on the back nine,” UCO coach Michael Bond said. “We know we left a lot of shots out there and hopefully we can come out tomorrow and post a good round.”
Jimenez made 13 pars in a 76 that has her tied for fifth in the individual race, rebounding from a front-nine 40 with an even-par 36 on the back.
Knight was steady with nines of 39-38 and is tied for ninth, while Farthing followed an opening-nine 44 with a closing 37 in rallying for her 81.
