OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 5) -- Central Oklahoma competed in its first-ever rowing competition over the weekend as the Bronchos had three teams participate in the Head of the Oklahoma Regatta on the Oklahoma River.
UCO came in 19th in the Collegiate Eight, with the team of Rachel Basinger, Stephanie Rogers, Calah Lynes, Kristen Mollman, Nicole Gibbon, Michelle Corbin, Katie Spaulding, Sarah Smith and Ashley Lawson finishing the course in 16:56.387.
The Bronchos had two groups in the Collegiate 4+, with Basinger, Lynes, Rogers, Corbin and Lawson taking seventh in the time of 18:05.643 and Spaulding, Smith, Lauren Winston, Ande Chapman and Erin Crain finishing ninth in 20:13.881.
“It was a great learning experience for us," UCO coach Pat Brown said. "We competed in one of the best regattas in the nation against a lot of the top teams in the country, which was a great way to get our season started."
UCO next competes in the Head of the Colorado Regatta in Austin, Texas on Oct. 25.
