Four Players Honored

EDMOND (May 8) -- Central Oklahoma second baseman Alley Roberts and third baseman Jodi Craig picked up first-team NCAA Division II All-South Central Regional recognition by the National Fast-pitch Coaches Association, it was announced Thursday.

 

Catcher Emilee Bounds and utility player Molly Shivers were second-team selections in voting of coaches from the South Central Region, which includes the Lone Star Conference, the Heartland Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

 

Roberts also earned first-team honors and Shivers second-team acclaim on the Daktronics All-South Central Regional team that is voted on by the region's sports information directors.

 

Roberts, a junior from Pawnee, is batting a team-high .380 went 2-for-4 in helping lead the Bronchos to a 7-4 win over St. Mary's Thursday in the South Central Regional.  She's scored a single-season school record 46 runs and also ranks in the top three in home runs (11, second), hits (63, second) and at bats (185, third).

 

Craig is hitting .303 with nine homers and a team-best 41 RBI.  The Meeker senior has belted a school career record 27 homers and she's also in the top five in four other categories ? RBI (112, second), at bats (531, second), hits (163, fourth) and runs (90, fourth).

 

Bounds, a senior from Yukon, has a .306 average with eight homers and 38 RBI.

 

Shivers picked up the pitching win in UCO's victory over St. Mary's Thursday and is now 13-2 with a 2.14 earned run average.  The Meeker sophomore, who starts in left field when not pitching, is hitting .291 with eight homers and 30 RBI.
